About Me

Welcome to my website! My name is Josh Appel and I work as a NFL and NCAA Football play-by-play voice for Sports USA Media. In addition, I have also worked college football with WatchESPN, college basketball with Stadium and USL soccer with Vista Worldlink Sports.

Prior to that, I was the play-by-play voice of Florida International University (FIU) Football and Men's Basketball.

In September 2017, I finished my fourth season as one of the play-by-play broadcasters of Philadelphia Phillies minor league affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers.

I am a graduate of the University of South Florida and the winner of the 2016 Jim Nantz Award. The award is given to the nation's most outstanding collegiate sports broadcaster, as voted on by leading members of the sportscasting industry.

I served three years as the Sports Director and student radio play-by-play voice of University of South Florida football, basketball and baseball on Bulls Radio. Additionally, I worked as a play-by-play announcer, in-game host and analyst for USF Athletics.

I initially got involved in broadcasting while at Cypress Bay High School in Fort Lauderdale, calling PBP for football and PA for basketball. In addition, I held a year and a half internship on the ‘Dan LeBatard Show’’ on 790 The Ticket in Miami before attending USF.

Thank you very much for visiting my website and I hope you enjoy!
